Why This Company Wants to Pay You to Learn Todays Most In-Demand Skills

Why This Company Wants to Pay You to Learn Today's Most In-Demand Skills Why This Company Wants to Pay You to Learn Today's Most In-Demand Skills Would it be a good idea for me to continue working, or return to class? It's an inquiry that huge numbers of the individuals who are stuck in a profession level ask themselves, and it's an intense one at that. From one viewpoint, going on vacation to sharpen your aptitudes can prompt new position openings, more significant compensations and additionally captivating work - then again, you hazard losing your constant flow of money inflow in the short run. Yet, innovation benefits and counseling organization Infosys accepts that you shouldn't need to pick among learning and winning. Actually, a year ago the organization reported designs to recruit 10,000 American laborers and open four new Technology and Innovation Hubs the nation over, which will instruct bleeding edge subjects like computerized reasoning, AI, distributed computing and the sky is the limit from there. Something in which we invest heavily is our capacity to prepare our representatives, says Rajesh Ahuja, Global Head of Talent Acquisition at Infosys. It is anything but a competency which we've quite recently grown now - this was the vision of our organizers. Through this most recent employing and preparing activity, the organization hopes to have a bigger effect in the U.S. than they ever have previously. Their definitive objective? Outfitting American specialists with the abilities of tomorrow. We talked with Ahuja to become familiar with Infosys' one of a kind preparing program, what they're searching for in representatives and how you can participate. Rajesh Ahuja: The innovation administrations industry is experiencing some critical changes, the greatest one being that innovation itself is changing radically. The feature you frequently observe is that it's changing a direct result of man-made reasoning , yet that is just a single piece of it. With lithe, DevOps, the cloud, etc, the technique of conveying administrations is experiencing a change. The second huge change is that innovation has gotten imperative to the business world when all is said in done. It doesn't make a difference which industry you're in - innovation has become basic instead of only a help work, and the manner in which organizations need to connect with specialist organizations like us is extraordinary. In conclusion, the account around worldwide versatility has changed, and it's not simply in the U.S. It's going on over the world. At the point when we took a gander at all these components, we understood we needed to begin taking a gander at a blend of worldwide ability and nearby ability, and take a gander at a portion of the manners by which we can be progressively fit to the following scarcely any long periods of development in our industry. Furthermore, we thought one about the best methodologies was to expand the restriction in the U.S. In any case, as we experienced the procedure, we understood that the master plan was the expertise deficiency and how to prepare the world more for the aptitudes of things to come. There's this consistent worldview of preparing and re-preparing that has gotten a greater story than just restriction. Rajesh Ahuja: One of the things in which we invest heavily is our capacity to prepare our workers. Also, it is anything but a competency which we've quite recently grown now - this was the vision of our originators. We have 700 full-time teachers who work with us to grow new building educational plans and confer that information to our representatives all inclusive. What's happening is we've investigated our substance and our capacity to continually prepare and retrain individuals, and we've propelled an industry-driving preparing stage where we are taking a gander at every individual's needs from their point of view yet in addition from the bigger viewpoint of the abilities of tomorrow. It's a blend of online classes , homeroom training and devoted masters workers can allude to. We're banding together with probably the biggest instruction stages the world over - LinkedIn Learning, Coursera, Udacity - and carrying their substance to our foundation so our representatives get the most ideal learning experience. We're going to open a huge preparing office out of Indianapolis, and we anticipate that that center point should truly be a point of convergence for American laborers to join our corporate college. We're not simply talking from a globalization point of view of employing and providing locally - we're additionally looking at upskilling and reskilling at a huge scope to construct the nearby work showcase. Rajesh Ahuja: We picked these areas dependent on a mix of three variables. One is ability accessibility and the potential for us to develop more ability. It's likewise about where our customers are and how we can serve them better with a nearby center. What's more, to wrap things up, we see how drawn in we can get with the nearby biological system: colleges, the neighborhood government, and so forth., which permits us to turn into a piece of the bigger network. Something which we have truly embraced is utilizing configuration to advance development and cooperation. Working in any huge association will in general get a piece siloed, so we're attempting to ingrain an idea of boundaryless deduction with open spaces and specialized regions where individuals can plan and work in a purposeful domain. There's a great deal of consolation to attempt new things. Rajesh Ahuja: Absolutely. We're searching for a blend of ability, individuals who are experienced and have been working in the business and people who need to work with us. We additionally take a gander at up-and-comers through a multidisciplinary point of view, so we have STEM graduates, we have school graduates and now we are likewise growing our program to those with partner's degrees or who originated from junior colleges. We need to welcome individuals on board who have two in number aptitudes: the capacity to learn and the ability to learn, and we are exceptionally sure that on the off chance that they have those two aptitudes, we will have the option to show them the essentials of programming or databases or whatever else. Rajesh Ahuja: It's generally a conventional meeting process. In any case, for progressively explicit situations, there could be an increasingly included determination around ideas identified with a specific aptitude or what they are going to consider. From a talking viewpoint, Infosys puts stock in understanding the subtleties of the work the applicant has done, regardless of whether it was a school venture or for their activity. The arrangement of inquiries you'll ordinarily get in a meeting are around whether you can clarify what you've done, how it went and what you figure you could have done another way. It's about basic reasoning and the capacity to break down. Rajesh Ahuja: We are an organization that genuinely has faith in every individual learning and developing with the association. We give not just the chance to individuals to come and carry out a responsibility, however a stage where they'll learn and develop until the end of time. What's more, the sort of work we do with our customers is sensational. Ordinarily, you will get the chance to chip away at ventures that are significant and cool. What's more, the third would be it's an extraordinary group - individuals work adequately with one another here. We are multifaceted, we are veritable and it's a decent workplace. Rajesh Ahuja: It's extraordinary, in light of the fact that your work isn't constrained by what's given to you, or what's being mentioned by a customer. You can request more and accomplish more past the given. Every individual is gotten some information about how they can make an incentive to the customer they are serving, which could be better programming, better yield or less exertion required. Our representatives concoct thoughts and ideas which our customers have never thought of, and these are customers which are huge global partnerships while we are a tech organization - we permit our workers to work in little groups to convey better worth. Infosys permits you to push the envelope on things constantly, and you're just restricted by your determination, your versatility and your capacity to consider more. Rajesh Ahuja: I think the basic expertise that can enable everyone to take part in the work advertise is learning. In the event that you are consistently ready to gain some new useful knowledge, you will remain applicable. Simply take a gander at programming software engineers: what individuals were modifying five years back has changed as of now. I would urge each person to discover some new information, particularly on the grounds that learning has gotten simpler - there are sufficient web assets, video instructional exercises and people accessible to get you out. Be that as it may, every individual should come out of their customary range of familiarity and challenge themselves substantially more. Rajesh Ahuja: A couple of things. One, the entire advanced change which is going on over the tech business is supernatural, and perceiving how profound that computerized change will truly take us is incredibly energizing. What's more, when I state advanced change, I mean digitizing the center of an endeavor, or the manner in which we use administrations - not exactly how we devour administrations. Infosys hopes to assume a major job in that. The second is the manner by which a portion of the innovation of things to come will improve our everyday. Life will get less difficult and better by utilizing advancements of things to come like computerized reasoning, AI and then some, and I'm eager to perceive how organizations like us can have an influence in having the items that effect the world. Lastly, the entire dynamic around how abilities and work will change, and how we will rethink and reevaluate the jobs of our present representatives just as future workers is another extremely ener gizing thing. Need to become computerization evidence, and get paid to do it? Apply to open Infosys employments here !

For reasons unknown, the washroom reflect is the main crowd sufficiently principled to stir the ideally sure expressive variant of ourselves, and any outside endeavors to repeat our presentation is perpetually harmed by the inclination to relapse to level mixed up hot air. A decent inventive thought is characterized by one that is both novel and valuable. The diaries of the late and productive Sylvia Plath propose that those that are sufficiently blessed to have them with some recurrence don't moreover have some favored understanding into where they originate from. Regarding the matter Plath once wrote, In the event that I need to compose, this is not really the best approach to carry on with sickening dread of it, solidified by it. The phantom of the unborn novel is a Medusa-head. Clever or essentially perceptive character notes come to me. In any case, I have no clue about how to begin.According to an ongoing report that pre-owned free-form rap as an interface to investigate the neural connection that scaffolds mind movement and creative mind, when we're being innovative the piece of our cerebrum liable for dynamic is for the most part dormant. Be that as it may, the piece of our cerebrum liable for learn-affiliation and passionate reactions remains very dynamic at the end of the day we drive the best when we're not so much in the driver's seat. There is a contemplated science behind the innovative procedure lamentably that doesn't make the execution any less frustrating. Follow Ladders on Flipboard!Follow Ladders' magazines on Flipboard covering Happiness, Productivity, Job Satisfaction, N euroscience, and more!Destructive loss of motion and ruinous broodingThe inventive procedure supplies a novel nervousness outside of the workmanship world, wherein the sting of dismissal is burdened aimlessly. All things considered, neither one of the scenarios is perfect from where I sit, however as a New Yorker that has been troubled with a companion bunch included only of trying entertainers, yearning painters, trying comics, trying authors, and trying artists, I'd bet about half of these need mindfulness, yet I can significantly more unquestionably say that 0% need toughness. It's strange to consider the significance of imagination in a corporate setting, however I'd contend that idealizing the aptitude is fundamental somewhat on each degree of the chain. Go through the entirety of the best non-specialists you can consider, everybody from Steve Jobs to Ray Kroc to Marie Kondo, and you'll see that they all possess(ed) a specific inventiveness that set them apart from their rivals . Sometimes, this flash exceeded the real business acumen. A ongoing overview of 4,000 working experts between the ages of 25 and 50 authorized by print and structure stalwart MOO and led by Atomik Research, better unloads the inventive hardships ejecting across American and English organizations each year. As a plan drove organization, we comprehend the significance of being innovative and how satisfying it is to see your thoughts spring up, says Brendan Stephens, MOO's Global Creative Director. People are more imaginative than they might suspect they are. With this examination, we needed to pinpoint the potential hindrances and permit individuals to comprehend and open their full imaginative potential.Nearly 2,000 respondents reviewed lament not being progressively inventive, with an extra 30% confessing to making something unique just a couple of times or less a year. Creativity resembles a muscle â€" you have to continue working out! clarifies Stephens. A large portion of us get into a standard where consistently appears to be identical, frequently to the detriment of innovative reasoning. Putting forth the attempt to be innovative both at work and in our own lives causes us utilize that muscle more easily.Passion ventures are frequently criticized as the inert masturbatory calling card of the Millennials, which isn't totally out of line, however I don't figure making a decent melody ought to be the main goal as a primary concern while taking a stab at keeping in touch with one. Completing a thing isn't just unimaginably compensating it additionally shows you how to appropriately quantify desires, oversee ti me adequately, enjoy your work, and propel yourself past your usual range of familiarity; molding your brain to be inventive on your own terms. The creators behind the report clarify, In the event that you hold up until a stroke of brightness strikes, your bustling life will regularly disrupt everything. Set an objective for what number of unique manifestations you intend to make in a given month and execute the accompanying tips to accomplish that objective. Step by step instructions to break the blockAfter setting up a general innovative discomfort occurring in American and UK workplaces, the overview proceeded to ask how those that made sense of an approach to continually battle it-did as such; the outcomes were shockingly varied. A sizeable segment of those reviewed (53%) said that they felt progressively inventive when they tried to encircle themselves with work that enlivened them, regardless of whether through tuning in to extraordinary music (44%) or watching the creative en deavors of their associates (39%.) When you become disappointed with your imaginative undertakings, in some cases taking a break to investigate how others accomplished something can assist you with conceptualizing another methodology, the writers add. Some surveyees decided on an increasingly conventional way to deal with turning past a temporarily uncooperative mind, a methodology that is come to be alluded to as shower contemplations. Thirty-one percent of respondents felt that their absolute best thoughts came to them while they showered. Alice Flaherty, who may be the most well known voice financing research behind the study of inventiveness, sets that the shower-venture relationship owes its prevalence to dopamine and the limbic framework. Any action that floods dopamine levels, warm showers, tuning in to music, and in any event, strolling will give more roads to imagination. Physical exercises that don't require your psychological consideration, such as taking a walk, can g ive your brain the opportunity to meander. As your psyche investigates conceivable outcomes from the workspace, you'll find new thoughts and be invigorated to follow up on them when you're back in the workplace, the creators conclude. It's a unimaginably defenseless thing to watch your thoughts bomb, both secretly and among peers. In any case, recollect that you must experience like 80 ill-conceived notions before you get to a decent one. Han Solo should be a monster green-cyborg man, Van Gogh should be a clergyman and Dostoevsky should be debrained in St. Petersburg. The just thing remaining among you and your next smart thought is time and some off-kilter reflections.

Ambition And The Modern Careerist

Ambition and the Modern Careerist You don’t typically hear about ambition nowadays; it’s a time period that feels barely quaint, like one thing out of Mad Men. Somewhere alongside the way in which, ambition went out of fashion, or at least exhibiting it did. Recently, articles about Olympic snowboarder Shaun White reported that he is wildly unpopular among his fellow snowboarders although he nearly singlehandedly introduced the game to the world stage. Other snowboarders found his ambition to win unseemly. According to a February 2014 article for Slate Magazine by Justin Peters and Josh Levin, “Even though White is maybe the bestâ€"and positively the most effective-knownâ€"snowboarder on the earth, he has never fit in with the game’s mellow bro culture, during which everyone gets alongside and it’s gauche to admit that you just care about victory.” Ambition is commonly associated (not all the time fairly) with ruthlessness and narcissism, and many people find it a repelling quality. We all wish to be succ essful, however it should surprise us, falling onto our heads like an unexpected rain bathe on a summer’s day. “Me, a vp? Why, I’ve by no means thought of it. But of course, I’m joyful to simply accept…” Wanting it feels so greedy. And then, if you obviously want it and don’t get it, you threat the Schadenfreude of all of your opponents and enemies. But maybe we’re just rethinking our priorities. Ambition has been declining amongst professional girls in the workplace for the past ten years, in accordance with a yearly survey from More Magazine. Women, especially, are rejecting the concept of “having it all.” We know that it’s not possible to have a totally balanced life the place work and family get equal time and a spotlight. So many women (and men) are selecting family first. We’re additionally tired of owning things that we don’t have time to get pleasure from. “I work incredibly lengthy days to pay for the massive lovely house filled with things I by no means see because I work incredibly lengthy days.” Sound acquainted? Ever since Sheryl Sandberg (author of Lean In) gave us permission to view our careers as jungle gyms, and never necessarily ladders, we’ve been rethinking our technique. We want to assemble careers that have that means, problem us, and convey us happiness. And that’s not all the time about money and status. Would you describe your self as ambitious? Leave a remark. Furthermore, the more we worked with individuals, the more we understood we expected to investigate more cases and clarify in more detail how individuals can go excessively far one way as a pioneer. The title of the book Extraordinary Ownership - clearly it has outrageous in there - yet as a pioneer, in many cases being extraordinary isn't acceptable. What you need to do is be balanced.Leif Babin: We're co nversing with individuals like the people at Muster, who have perused the primary book. Some of them have perused it multiple times. But then they're despite everything battling to attempt to actualize these exercises. What's more, as we state, they're straightforward, difficult. However, its most troublesome piece is attempting to find that balance between things like extraordinary proprietorship, where you own beginning and end in your reality, and decentralized order, where you really need to engage others and permit them to step up and lead. Where you must be a pioneer and assume responsibility and not trust that others will take care of issues, yet additionally be a supporter and go with others' arrangements and execute as though it's your own.Feloni: Can you give a case of an exercise from the new book?Willink: One of the things that we talk about in Outrageous Ownership is being default forceful. That's a stance, a disposition, where you're going to tackle issues, and you will get them fathomed. And yet, there can be times where you can turn out to be excessively forceful. In the SEAL groups, when we were preparing, we'd state to somebody who was in effect excessively forceful that you're hurrying to your demise. You're running toward the issue without Thinking.you must offset that forcefulness with additionally being careful and ensuring you're evaluating the situation.Feloni: Could you share a tale from the book that represents that concept?Babin: The battle model we talk about there is that we did a great deal of t hings that were unsafe, that individuals thought, in all honesty, were insane, or that we faced an excessive amount of challenge. We unquestionably attempted to relieve all the hazard that we could control, yet we comprehended the estimation of those battle tasks in Ramadi and what we were doing out there with our Iraqi troopers and our expert sharpshooter overwatch missions, and how they bolstered that campaign. What we don't generally discuss is the operations that we turned down. We turned down various tasks that we felt were excessively hazardous. Furthermore, I talk around one of those in the book.Willink: One of the business models that I use in the book is a youthful CEO who was hoping to extend her organization, and she saw a great deal of development not too far off, thus she proceeded to recruit many individuals. She welcomed these individuals on board since she anticipated that this huge development should come. There was only an exceptionally long turn time on gathering t he cash from items sold, and it didn't make up for lost time in time. Thus before you know it, she was losing cash. She had a default forceful outlook, which was extraordinary, and when I was working with her, I was eager to see that she was being forceful. In any case, when I really began taking a gander at the numbers, I understood hello, she's as a rule excessively forceful, and she's brought such a large number of individuals installed, and now she's topsy turvy and she needs to dispose of a portion of these individuals now or, in all likelihood it will be too late.Feloni: What do you need perusers to detract from it?Babin: The greatest thing that we need individuals to comprehend in this idea of parity. Frequently individuals think they are doing what we would do in a circumstance, and it's really the inverse. We saw that in the SEAL groups, where folks in Task Unit Bruiser connected to us toward the finish of our organization and saw a tad of our activities, and when they retu rned, they attempted to do a few things the manner in which they thought Jocko would do them, or I would do them - and they really weren't how we were doing them. Since we truly needed to find that balance. We see pioneers doing that, where they state, I'm going to hold the line. Leif stated, 'It's not what you lecture. It's what you endure,' so I'm going to push every known limit in my group and we're going to consider individuals responsible. And that doesn't work. In case you're criticizing individuals, in case you're a domineering pioneer that is continually in individuals' face or raising your voice and losing your temper with individuals, it doesn't work. It's not successful. So that is truly what we're attempting to get across here with The Dichotomy of Leadership, are the real factors of finding that parity of what is best, what works. This article initially showed up on Business Insider. You may likewise appreciate… New neuroscience uncovers 4 ceremonies that will satisfy you Outsiders know your social class in the initial seven words you state, study finds 10 exercises from Benjamin Franklin's every day plan that will twofold your profitability The most noticeably awful slip-ups you can make in a meeting, as indicated by 12 CEOs 10 propensities for intellectually resilient individuals

New Study Shows that Leaning Into Negotiations Doesnt Always Work for Women - Workology

New Study Shows that Leaning Into Negotiations Doesnt Always Work for Women - Workology Leaning Into Negotiations Doesnt Always Work for Women Last week Christine L. Exley, Muriel Niederle and Lise Vesterlund published a new study on leaning in. They wanted to know how and when leaning in might benefit women and when it might not. What they found is that gathering your confidence and pushing harder does work sometimes, but other times it can have disastrous affects in a negotiation. Its not that the women in their study negotiated poorly but more that they were perceived to be too aggressive. Leaning in, they found, is most effective in cases where managers were already inclined towards you, and totally ineffective in cases where they werent. Leaning Into Negotiations Doesnt Always Work for Women In other words, if the company culture is sexist, leaning in wont help you change it. Instead, its just another excuse for a sexist manager to find a woman difficult. The study controlled other factors to look closely at the results of negotiation and then split participants into two groups: one group had the choice to negotiate a salary increase or take a small hit and the other was forced to negotiate. In order to simulate negotiating conditions at work, the authors conduct a laboratory experiment where parties in a negotiation include one participant randomly assigned to the role of the worker and another participant randomly assigned to the role of the firm. A negotiation between the two parties centers on determining how to split a joint worker-firm revenue, which equals the sum of their individual contributions. Their individual contributions depend on their performance in a prior task. There are 10 rounds of negotiation opportunities, where each round randomly rematches participants into worker- firm pairs. All negotiation opportunities begin with a computer-generated suggested wage for the worker, equal to the worker’s contribution plus a random amount that is negative in expectation. In the choice group, the study found that women who chose to negotiate  were very  likely to succeed in gaining  a higher salary, but in the forced group, participants took heavier losses.  The women in the choice group explained that they did so when conditions seemed favourable but chose not to negotiate when conditions seemed unfavourable and usually they were right. Participants were good at reading the room and knowing when negotiating would help them and when it wouldnt. But the forced group wasnt able to make that kind of decision; they faced higher risk and no higher gain. Forcing women to always negotiate leads to an increase in losses and no additional gains. Leaning-in appears irrelevant with respect to financially favorable negotiations â€" women already choose to enter those â€" and harmful with respect to some financially unfavorable negotiations that women would have avoided if given the choice. The authors wrote about their study in the Harvard Business Review, and emphasized that women being more cautious about negotiation is a the  result of conditions in the work world, and not a result of women being too shy to negotiate, or being socialized to be nicer. That is, its not that women cant lean in or dont want to lean in, but rather, they have read cause to worry that leaning in might backfire on them. Sheryl Sandbergs Lean In, published in 2013, is still having an affect on the conversation about women at work. Sandberg argued that women needed to do two things: work harder and put themselves forward more. There have been so many criticisms made about the book and about Sandbergs overall perspective, but one of the most common is that leaning in doesnt work for all women and it doesnt work all the time. As we know from the gender wage gap, neither the good nor the bad falls equally among women. When it comes to the wage gap, its better to talk about wage gaps, since the income disparity among women is as wide as it is between men and women. The outcomes of negotiation are just as marked by racial and ethnic biases. Black women are more likely to perceived as being aggressive than white women, stereotyped as an angry black woman, as opposed to a white woman leaning in. And the everyday working life of women of colour is full of micro-aggresssions, not just the sexism that all women experience  but racism too. If speaking up, putting ourselves forward and entering negotiations is difficult and fraught with downsides for all women, its even worse for women of colour. Exley, Niederle and Vesterlund argue that what keeps women from entering negotiations is knowing that sometimes the risks outweigh the rewards its practical and informed risk management and they arent the only social scientists arguing this. Countless studies show that the same behaviour, from men and women, white people and people of colour, is perceived differently by managers and coworkers. These biases are so pervasive that the reflect in salaries, promotion tracks and performance reviews. Last year, a linguist, Kieran Snyder  writing in Fortune, looked at performance reviewed and found marked differences in how men and women were described and the kinds of feedback they received. Women were by far more likely to receive negative feedback than men: Although  Exley, Niederle and Vesterlund found that negotiating is good for women at work, they also demonstrated that simply recommending that women need to lean in isnt useful. As usual, when it comes to making the working world more equitable, its a hell of a lot more complicated than that.

Oil Gas What is the downstream process

Oil Gas What is the downstream process by Michael Cheary The downstream stage â€" the largest part of the oil and gas process â€" brings with it a wave of differing opportunities to work.In fact, there are literally thousands of different jobs available in downstream alone, meaning that whatever your skillset, there’s an oil and gas job out there for you. Not sure you’re up-to-speed with what all the individual stages are? Here’s our guide to everything you need to know about the downstream process:Step one: RefiningThe first, and arguably most integral, part of the downstream process is refining. To put it simply, oil refining takes the crude oil, extracted during the upstream process, and turns it into a range of substances that we can use.Refining is carried out through fractional distillation, a process which heats and separates the complex chemicals (mostly hydrocarbons) found in crude oil. Unwanted substances are removed, and any other materials produced are collected. After distillation, the fuels are t ransported to elsewhere in the refinery to be processed.Oil refineries cost billions of pounds to build and maintain, and run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Because they’re such an expensive and essential part of the oil and gas industry, hiring the right people is of paramount importance. In fact, it’s estimated that somewhere in the region of 1.5million people work within refining worldwide.Jobs available:Due to the complexity and importance of refining within the downstream process, jobs are available in a wide range of disciplines including construction, engineering, management, maintenance and administration.Refining jobs include Engineer (Project, Chemical, Electrical, etc.), Pipefitter, Welder, Cutter, Pump System Operator, Supervisor and Foreman.Step two: ProcessingNatural gas processing also happens within the downstream stage.Along with crude oil, natural gas is generally found underground, usually in close proximity to the source of oil. It’s in the downstream proc ess that natural gas is rendered usable, by removing any water or other impurities and by-products such as sulphur and ethaneProcessed natural gas is incredibly useful, being utilised for products ranging from fuel for cooking and heating, through to producing cement, fertiliser and petrochemicals and creating polyethylene polymers, the most widely-used type of plastic.Once processed, it is then distributed for use.Jobs available:Jobs within the processing part of the oil and gas industry are also primarily found within oil refineries. However, roles vary greatly depending on what material is being produced.Processing jobs include Process Engineer, Plant Operator, Product Controller and Turnaround (TAR) Manager.Step three: Marketing DistributionOnce the oil and gas products have been refined and processed, the next stage is to get them to market.Marketing, a major component of this, involves the wholesale and distribution of the product, as well as other elements, such as pricing. Pricing and demand is heavily influenced by a number of different factors, such as distance, economic and political conditions, rig utilisation rates and oil contracts. After marketing, products can then be distributed to the appropriate parties. Many of the major companies involved in the midstream process are also key players within the distribution process, transporting refined oil and processed natural gas out to retail outlets, factories and storage, or even their own facilities.Transport involved could include conventional methods, such as oil tankers, trucks, and rail shipments, or go straight from the refinery into a complex piping network to reach their destination. Generally, most companies operate with a mix of transport types.Jobs available:There are a number of jobs you could do within the marketing and distribution stages of the downstream process, and many may be available to people working within similar roles in other industries.Marketing and distribution jobs includ e Hazard Analyst, Commercial Analyst Marketing Assistant, Truck Driver, Barge Driver and other transport-based positions.Step four: RetailThe final stage of the downstream process is retailing the finished product. Some degree of these sales will come through selling petrol, diesel and other fuel straight to consumers. However, a large amount is also sold to factories and power plants, and within the transport industry. The downstream industry also touches consumers through thousands of other products, such as heating oil, lubricants, synthetic rubber, plastics, fertilizers, antifreeze, pesticides and pharmaceuticals.Once again, some of the larger companies (also known as ‘super majors’) may handle all elements of the downstream process themselves, including retail. However, there are only a handful of these within the entire industry (e.g. BP, Total, Shell), and even these companies may choose to operate with multiple other players within the sector for individual contracts.Jobs available:Probably the area where jobs are most abundant, the retail stage of the oil and gas process is the area in which those with excellent customer service skills excel.Retail jobs include Petrol Pump Attendants, Retail Assistants, Accountants, Tax Accountants, and Field Sales Representatives. Why should I work in the oil and gas industry?Aside from being an incredibly diverse area to work within, the oil and gas industry is also one of the most lucrative. Annual salaries are well above national averages, and continue to grow year-on-year.Other benefits include flexible working, and the opportunity to travel globally as part of your career. How to Find Resume Writing Services That Work For You

How to Find Resume Writing Services That Work For YouIf you are a graduate, a job seeker, or a graduate who is contemplating an advanced degree, you might consider utilizing resume writing services in all or part of your search for employment. Job seekers in all fields find their resumes tossed around between different companies, and the results are usually mixed. For this reason, the use of a professional resume writing service can be beneficial.Certain regions offer better representation than others, and so it will be important to choose an agency that offers a variety of services. Another key aspect of choosing the right company is to know what to expect from their company. Most graduates need to go through a hiring process and should not feel rushed. Because of this, potential employers want to know that a resume writing service has an actual person on staff who knows how to write resumes. For this reason, many companies will use people they already have on staff to handle the wor k for them. This is fine if the work is basic and does not require a lot of skill. The important thing is to use the resume writing services you select carefully. Look for individuals who have experience with the company and who can take direction well. When selecting resume writing services, make sure to research the company before making a decision. Check to see if the staff is certified and ask about any past clients. It is also a good idea to make appointments with several people and see if they respond quickly and that the service has a reputation of being professional. If you decide to hire a professional service for the services they provide, you can rest assured that you will receive a high-quality product. When hiring a professional agency, there are a few things to keep in mind. The most important of these is to make sure that the agency you select is reputable. This means that the company should be licensed by the state you reside in. This is a very important step, because t here are many illegal services out there. Because many of the illegal services offer such low-quality services, it is important to find a reputable company who is legal and has all the proper licenses and permits to provide the services you need.Another thing to consider is the level of care and attention that your potential client should receive. Many employers will offer high-quality services but will sometimes give poor customer service. You want to be sure that the agency you choose has been established as an agency that works with your specific industry and focuses on providing a good quality product. When it comes to resume writing services, one of the best parts is that it is a relatively simple task to put together. If you are seeking a quality service, then look no further than an agency specializing in resume writing services. It can save you both time and money, allowing you to focus on other aspects of your career.

Is It Really Simple To Ban Unpaid Internship - Career Geek

Is It Really Simple To Ban Unpaid Internship - Career Geek You only have to mention the words unpaid internship or voluntary internship before someone within 5 metres of you shouts out unpaid internships are illegal. My first reaction to that is: this person has a job and its not worth discussing the issue with him or her. And that in essence is the problem I have with the whole unpaid internships debate. People jumping to conclusions and asking for a blanket ban on unpaid internships. Quite frankly, unless someone is going to lobby the government with millions of pounds, I dont think anything will happen with unpaid internships. Unpaid Internships Need To Be Discussed First 18 odd months ago, the current UK coalition government announced some changes to the tax benefits of people donating to charities. The reason being, people were donating to some charities which did no real work and yet people got the tax benefits. The whole voluntary sector went up in arms in fact, everyone on social media was banging on about how it will hurt the charities which do actual work. The plan was eventually shelved. Now, consider the government proposes blanket ban on unpaid internships. Will that not affect charities? Who gets an awful lot of people working for them voluntarily? This is one piece of the big unpaid internship puzzle. Calling for blanket ban on unpaid internships is not a solution, in fact, it is stifling the debate and discussion that needs to be had. Start-ups and Unpaid Internships Start-ups are springing in every part of the world. It is so easy to start a business that even students and fresh graduates are giving it a go. Sometimes, the idea starts working and they need people to help out. Their best option, without any funding, or getting paid themselves, is to find interns. A start-up is still a registered business (when it gets registered) and any blanket ban on unpaid internship will mean start-ups will not be able to find people to work for them at the start. Here is another problem and I have seen this comparing campaigns for two different online start-ups. Two online start-ups wanted social media interns to work for them one advertised for voluntary worker; the other advertised as social media intern. The one who advertised for a social media intern had a lot more applicants than the one who advertised the position as a voluntary opportunity. This is reality. Students and graduates want the term internship on their resumes. So how do we solve this problem of allowing start-ups to still tap into the talent at  the early stage of their businesss set up? Careers, Students and Industry Need to Feed Into the Unpaid Internships Debate I previously had a stance I was against unpaid internships. I have even written about unpaid internships and why they are bad. But over the last year I have given this topic a lot more thought than I previously had and I honestly cannot stand up and support the total ban on unpaid internships. To be fair, there are existing rules about national minimum wage falana falana but they are not paid heed to. Hence, I genuinely think any unpaid internship debate has to be led by careers services, students, the industry and other experts from their field. Far too much of the unpaid internship debate is held by the private sector and careers experts. I find it funny how a journalist of a major newspaper whose audience is upmarket posh roast turkey diners, writes about unpaid internship. Dude, thats uncool. Let the students who will graduate and get into the industry, let the careers services who, as much as you berate them, are still a FREE and good point of contact for students and the industry who will employ them have discussions amongst themselves. Our job is to aid those discussions. And we all need to be careful what we ask for. Tomorrow we could get a blanket ban on unpaid internships and realise weve ended up doing even more harm to the charity and start-up industry. Unpaid internships are a jigsaw puzzle that needs discussion and collaboration across different sectors to piece the final picture together. The debate cannot be solved on a gung ho approach. What are your thoughts on it? I want to know what you feel, so please comment below and   I will respond to each and every one of your comments! photo credit: Jeff Howard via photopin cc 18
